2025 Chess Tournament
2nd Annual South Bay Chess Championships
Sunday, June 1st, 2025. 8:30am to 3:00pm - First match starts at 9AM!
Ages 8 to 18. 50 Players, multiple rounds of matches.
This tournament is NOT RATED. Beginners to Experts welcome!
Registration is FREE!. Parental Permission Slips are Required. Breakfast, Snacks & Lunch will be provided for all players. Registration Deadline is Wednesday, May 25th, at 5pm.

Here's the Tournament Information
Date / Time:
June 1st, 2024, 8:30am - 5pm. First match starts promptly at 9:30am!
Players:
Open to all students 8 to 18 years old, beginners to experts (this event is "not rated").

Families and Spectators:
Families and spectators are encouraged to watch the action. Seating will be available, along with food and beverages (minimal "donation" is greatly appreciated).

Group Play:
50 players, 5 groups of 10 players. Groups assigned via experience and age.
Matches:
Each player will play Five (5) 45-minute "round robin" matches to determine a group winner.
Location: Redondo Beach Elks Lodge #1378, 315 Esplanade, Redondo Beach CA 90277.
Food: Continental Breakfast, Snacks and Lunch will be provided for all players.
Prizes: Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each group - all players receive a "participation" chess medal.
Cost to Register: FREE!

All Parents, please complete a permission slip as you register your player. Each player must have a permission slip to be eligible for play.
This tournament will take place under the supervision, guidance, and direction of the Redondo Beach Kiwanis Club and the Redondo Beach Elks Lodge #1378 (“supervising entities”).
